Un codo de 90° siempre mantiene la elevación constante.

Para mantener el plano ortogonal, se debe evitar cualquier codo de 90°, solo se usan codos de 180°.

Después de un cambio de elevación, se suelen usar segmentos verticales para subir o bajar la tubería sin romper la ortogonalidad.

En un trazado ortogonal, una T puede reemplazar a un codo para cambiar dirección.
