Durante el contexto de la Segunda Guerra mundial se creó la primera computadora digital para decodificar los mensajes de radio cifrados de los alemanes.

Alan Turing fue muy importante durante esta guerra ya que el, junto a su equipo, decodificaron los mensajes de radio cifrados de los alemanes.

Por esta gran hazaña, Alan recibió el merecido reconocimiento por salvar muchísimas vidas durante la guerra.

Gracias a lo que hizo Alan Turing, en la UBA en 1997 instalaron y bautizaron a una de las computadoras en las que trabajó la Mercury de Ferranti como "Mafalda"
