El parecía resolverse en la habitación iluminada por la luna . Un reloj en la pared marcaba la hora , mientras el examinaba cada detalle : una que parecía impecable , una pequeña escondida bajo un sofá , y un silencio cuidadosamente mantenido por el sospechoso . Sin embargo , cada detalle apuntaba a una verdad ambigua . La forma en que el reloj dejó de sonar descubrió que alguien había planeado el engaño con paciencia , cuerpos y palabras prestadas , y la coartada , aparentemente sólida , comenzó a deshilacharse cuando un tercero recordó un ruido en la escalera .
