Una red informática está formada por que se conectan entre sí mediante . Cada nodo puede ser un equipo , como una computadora o un servidor , que envía y recibe datos . Los dispositivos de interconexión , como y , gestionan el tráfico y dirigen las señales hacia su destino . Un router determina por qué camino viajará un paquete y un switch trabaja a nivel de enlace para ampliar la red local . Las permiten identificar a cada dispositivo en la red y facilitar la entrega de información .
