En el Sistema , el Sol es la estrella central y aporta la mayor parte de la energía . Los , como Mercurio , Venus , y Marte , varían en tamaño y composición , y orbitan alrededor del Sol en trayectorias aproximadamente circulares o elípticas . Las acompañan a muchos planetas y pueden presentar superficies rocosas , heladas o atmósferas diversas . Los son cuerpos helados que forman colas luminosas cuando se acercan al Sol , mientras que los suelen ser rocas que orbitan entre Marte y Júpiter . La distancia relativa a la Tierra cambia con la órbita y se estudia mediante modelos computacionales para extraer información sobre los cuerpos celestes .
