El arte en el nace mucho antes de la escritura . En este periodo , los humanos comenzaron a representar su entorno en cuevas mediante . Estas imágenes , encontradas en lugares como en Francia o en España , muestran animales , escenas de caza y símbolos abstractos . No se trataba solo de decorar , sino que estas pinturas tenían un significado ritual o espiritual , especialmente cuando se encontraban en zonas profundas y de dentro de las cuevas . Además , existían pequeñas esculturas conocidas como las , que simbolizaban la fertilidad .
