Ketika salat berjamaah imam membaca ayat sajdah tetapi tidak melakukan sujud tilawah dan langsung melanjutkan bacaan. Karena makmum mendengar ayat sajdah, maka makmum tetap boleh sujud tilawah sendiri

Sujud tilawah boleh dilakukan ketika membaca atau mendengar ayat sajdah, tetapi jika dilakukan di luar salat tetap harus memperhatikan syarat seperti suci, menutup aurat, dan menghadap kiblat

Sujud tilawah, sujud sahwi sama-sama berbentuk sujud, tetapi tidak boleh disamakan sebabnya; sujud tilawah karena ayat sajdah dan sujud sahwi karena lupa dalam salat

Jika seseorang membaca ayat sajdah dalam salat sendirian, lalu ia sujud tilawah, setelah itu ia langsung duduk tasyahud dan salam karena sujud tilawah sudah menutup salatnya

Karena hukum sujud tilawah adalah sunnah muakkadah, maka orang yang meninggalkannya tidak berdosa, tetapi kehilangan kesempatan mendapatkan keutamaan dan hikmah dari sujud tilawah.
