El es un gigante africano ubicado en Tanzania . Su altura alcanza sobre el nivel del mar , lo que lo convierte en la montaña más alta de África . Es un volcán inactivo con tres principales : Shira , Mawenzi y , siendo este último el que alberga la cumbre llamada . Su ascenso atraviesa biomas diversos , desde selva tropical en las laderas inferiores hasta desiertos fríos cerca de la cumbre , donde las temperaturas pueden caer por debajo de cero . Aunque no tiene actividad reciente , su estructura geológica atrae a escaladores y científicos .
