A clear and well - written ( 1 ) is designed to inform , enlighten , or instruct the reader about a specific subject using facts and logic rather than personal opinions .

To create an effective piece of writing , the author must first select a specific ( 2 ) to write about . Before beginning the draft , it is highly recommended to create an outline to ensure logical ( 3 ) , which helps the reader follow the progression of thoughts from start to finish .

The very first part of the writing is the ( 4 ) , which hooks the reader's attention and provides necessary background information . At the end of this beginning section is the ( 5 ) ( two words ) , which acts as the roadmap for the entire paper by stating the main argument or central point .

The middle section of the paper contains multiple sections . Each individual ( 6 ) ( two words ) must focus on developing a single main idea . This idea is introduced in the very first line , known as the ( 7 ) .

To prove that the writer's ideas are valid , they must include concrete ( 8 ) , such as data , statistics , or direct quotes from reliable sources . Simply dropping a quote into the text is not enough , however ; the author must provide an ( 9 ) that unpacks the facts and explicitly demonstrates how they connect back to the central thesis .
