Daya hantar listrik suatu larutan sangat bergantung pada jumlah partikel yang bergerak bebas didalamnya . Partikel bermuatan ini bertindak sebagai pembawa muatan yang bertugas mengalirkan listrik dari ke dalam rangkaian tertutup . Pada elektrolit kuat , zat menjadi ion , sehingga lampu menyala sangat terang dan memiliki banyak gelembung saat diuji . Pada elektrolit lemah , zat sehingga lampu menyala redup / tidak menyala dan memiliki sedikit gelembung saat diuji . Sedangkan pada nonelektrolit , zat menjadi ion , sehingga lampu mati dan tidak memiliki gelembung saat diuji .
