Die Geschichte von und beginnt in , einer kleinen Stadt in Dänemark . gründete 1932 eine Holzwarenfabrik , die später Spielzeug produzierte . Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg entwickelte das Unternehmen Kunststoffbausteine , die 1949 als Automatic Binding Bricks bekannt wurden . patentierte das heute bekannte Baukastenprinzip mit , wodurch stabile Modelle entstanden . In Deutschland und vielen anderen Ländern populär wurden Klemmbausteine als Bezeichnung für ähnliche Spielsteine , die Konkurrenz zu Lego boten , während Lego weiter die Markenwelt prägte .
