Existen varios tipos de texto según su objetivo : cuenta una historia , presenta rasgos de un lugar o objeto , explica conceptos de forma clara , defiende una postura y reproduce conversaciones . Además , el texto puede combinar características de más de un tipo , por ejemplo un relato descriptivo con información expositiva , o un ensayo argumentativo con detalles narrativos . Conocer estas cualidades facilita adaptar el estilo al propósito : informar , entretener , persuadir o describir . Practicar identificando cada tipo mejora la lectura crítica y la escritura . En la educación se estudian criterios como estructura , lenguaje y tono para distinguir entre texto narrativo , descriptivo , expositivo , argumentativo y dialogado .
