Las son sonidos que se pronuncian sin cierre total de los órganos articulatorios . En español existen cinco vocales básicas : a , e , i , o y u . Cada una puede aparecer en palabras átonas o tónicas y puede llevar para indicar énfasis o distinguir palabras . Las vocales pueden ser abiertas o cerradas según el contexto y el acento regional . Es importante reconocer que las vocales pueden formar y cuando se combinan con otras vocales en una misma sílaba .
