2

A short time later , the police turned up at May's home and her of stealing . Her ex - husband had called the police and claimed that she'd a crime because the cell phone technically belonged to him . As a result , May was and then with theft .

3

On the day that May appeared in court , some new evidence suddenly became known . The cell phone didn't belong to the ex - husband , after all ! So , what happened next ? The charge against May was and she was free to go home .

4

However , the story did not end there . Furious about the false accusation , the judge ordered the police to the ex - husband for questioning . Because he had lied to the authorities , they didn't the suspect immediately . Instead , he was formally with making a false police report and had to stand trial . His lawyers argued it was just a misunderstanding , hoping the jury would him . However , the evidence against him was overwhelming , and the jury decided to him of the crime instead . He was sentenced to community service .
