Para o , primero debemos asegurar que todas tengan el mismo . Si ya lo tienen , sumamos o restamos los y conservamos el denominador . Por ejemplo , 3 / 8 más 5 / 8 da 8 / 8 , que se puede simplificar . En la resta , restamos los numeradores y mantenemos el denominador , cuidando el signo . Cuando las fracciones no comparten denominadores , buscamos un para poder operar sin cambiar el .
