La place qu'occupe une espèce dans un écosystème ne se résume pas à son simple lieu de vie . On parle de pour décrire l'ensemble des conditions biologiques , chimiques et physiques nécessaires à la survie , la croissance et la reproduction de cette espèce . C'est en quelque sorte sa et ses dans le milieu . On distingue 3 dimensions :

a ) La dimension :

Elle est directement liée aux limites de de l'espèce face aux différents facteurs de son environnement ( comme la , ou la nature du sol ) . Ces paramètres délimitent très précisément l'espace géographique où l'espèce est capable de s'installer et de prospérer .
On peut visualiser ces environnementales grâce à des outils comme l'éco - climatogramme ( qui croise l ? écologie avec les données ) . Ainsi , chaque espèce possède une géographique qui lui est propre , ce qui explique pourquoi on ne retrouve pas les mêmes espèces partout sur un territoire .
