Até 2010 , o Canecão ( ser ) uma grande casa de show , localizada em frente à sede do Clube de Regatas Botafogo . Inaugurada em 22 de junho de 1967 , o espaço ( ser ) palco de espetáculos antológicos mas , mesmo antes de sua estreia , já ( ter ) um show noturno no Canecão protagonizado por Ziraldo .

A casa ainda era só um bar , quando Ziraldo ( começar ) a pintar um enorme mural de 32 metros de largura por 6 de altura em uma das suas paredes . A pintura ( levar ) 6 meses de trabalho noturno , que sempre ( começar ) às 21h e ( durar ) a madrugada toda .

Pouco a pouco , vários amigos ( ir ) chegando e sentando nos andaimes . Alguns se ( tornar ) colaboradores ocasionais , pincelando com tinta colorida os desenhos traçados por Ziraldo na parede .

Livremente inspirada em Picasso e Portinari , a pintura mural batizada por muitos de " Guernica Brasileira " , representa uma versão bem peculiar de " A Última Ceia " . Em plena ditadura militar , a obra ( acabar ) sendo alvo de críticas pelo regime e considerada transgressora .

A Casa ( fechar ) as portas em 2010 , sendo encampada pela vizinha Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro ( UFRJ ) , dona do terreno . O mural já ( estar ) se deteriorando antes disso .

Hoje há ainda vestígios do mural original que ( resistir ) ao tempo e ao descaso administrativo e há também o interesse público quanto ao seu resgate e restauro . Fragmentos de arte em meio à ruína que promete ser , em breve , transformada no novo Canecão .
