El objetivo es encestar en la canasta del equipo contrario para sumar puntos.

Un equipo tiene cinco jugadores en la cancha al comenzar el juego.

En cada mitad hay dos cuartos de 10 minutos (esto es verdadero en algunas ligas, pero no en FIBA).

Se puede tocar el balón con cualquier parte del cuerpo sin restricciones ni faltas.
