Desde el siglo VIII algunos comerciantes viajaban al oriente para conseguir productos que luego comerciaban en Europa y que allí no existían , tales como la seda , joyas , perfumes , especias , etc . . . Con las cruzadas , los vieron una gran oportunidad para conseguir mercancías en gran cantidad , y lo consiguieron en la medida que las cruzadas abrían nuevas .
Los comerciantes llevaron a sus , pero tenían la dificultad de que los caminos eran peligrosos o estaban en mal estado , la presencia de ladrones y al entrar a un debían pedir permiso al señor . Todo esto hacía que perdieran tiempo , les robaran algunos elementos y otros se rompían .
Entonces , los comerciantes decidieron instalarse en un solo y que la gente se acercara a ellos y compraran sus . Se ubicaron en lugares como el cruce de caminos , al lado de las murallas de los castillos , así fueron surgiendo las . Mucha gente se fue a vivir a las para ESCAPAR DE LA EXPLOTACIÓN DE LOS SEÑORES FEUDALES y , además , porque había aumentado la en los feudos ya no había lugar para que viviera tanta gente .
