Position

  • Position directly under the ball as it comes toward you.
  • Knees and elbows are bent. 
  • Hands are in front of your face. 
  • Spread the fingers of both hands in a cupped position with thumbs and index fingers forming a triangle above your face.

Contact

  • Contact the ball with the pads of your fingers and thumbs. 
  • Relax your fingers so that you cushion the ball’s impact with the cupped fingers. 
  • Bent arms and legs.

Extent

After contact, extend your arms (like a basketball chest pass – elbows straighten.)
