Now we come to the Third Industrial Revolution .

Riding on the success , the inventions , the advancements in the first two industrial revolutions , the Third Industrial Revolution is computerization but hang on not just about automation but it's more about flexibility , adaptability , reliability and more . people is needed to accomplish many of the work . And very strangely in this particular industrial revolutions , no new skilled or unskilled workers position is created . Automation is common at the basic level the manufacturing processes in plants and factories .

More about the Third Industrial Revolution is often the digital revolution and of course it encompassed the use of electronics and IT to further automate production . It really started in the
1960s but some authors also quoted 70s , 80s or some even marked to start in the 90s . The advancement of technology from analog , electronic and mechanical devices to digital technologies enable storage , retrieval , transmission , comparison , computation , connection , reliability and accuracy and more , provides a myriad of potential opportunities people to designed and
developed different types of tools and products .

The digital revolution also the beginning of the information era . Information becomes a very important entity in organization . In this industrial revolution era , two things : , the PLC the programmable logic controller is an industrial digital computer of a human interface and it is used to define control , diagnose , rectify problems in manufacturing processes ; the second thing is the internet , started as the ARPANET the US Department defends back in 1969 to 1990 . it was the first tcp / ip network in the 1980s the first generation of cell network and force tonight is the world wide web and so forth and today's internet web 2 . 0 everything else is also based it .

These two things the PLC and the Internet are the key technologies driving the advancements in the Third Industrial Revolution and so they did very very successfully of course .

Scalability of automation and control with repeatability and reliability enable cost and fast productions which ultimately benefits societies and all human beings on earth . As I said earlier you know - interestingly enough , no new unskilled factory worker position is being produced in this revolution the first two . Given that the PLC the programmable logic controller is such a key enabler in the Third Industrial Revolution , I thought you'll be interested in once again have a look at this short video taken from YouTube that described the next level of details about the PLC . I hope you enjoy it .

A programmable logic controller or PLC is simply a special computer that is programmed to control certain processes in industries petroleum steel or automotive every PLC is composed of three main parts : input , CPU and output . Suppose that we have an electrical motor and a push button we want the motor to turn on the button is pressed . When the button is pressed again , we want the motor to turn off .

This function is similar to the function of the power button on your TV remote . do this , we must first write a program for this operation on a computer and then download it to the CPU . Then we connect the switch to the input and the motor to the output . Now we press the button , an electrical signal be sent to the PLC .

The PLC input will deliver this signal to the CPU but first must present it in a format that the CPU can process . Why ? Because the CPU is a computer system and cannot process the raw electrical signal . The CPU will process the data received and send the result to the output . The output turns the data a raw electrical signal again and applies that to the motor and turns it on . Now if we press the button again the process repeats and the motor will turn .
