A school is a place where students spend a large part their day . It is therefore integral a school be a safe and healthy place learners . Classrooms should always be kept clean and neat and students should also keep their own desks neat and clean . Teachers should supervise this and make sure that at least once a week , students take time clean their desks . This helps avoid breeding insects such ants , cockroaches and lizards . Students should also be monitored ensure that they do not smoke play fire and there should be fire - fighting equipment all classrooms fire breaks out .
