Remember

Remember, when you multiply you are increasing the number of pieces and decreasing the size of the pieces. (When you multiply the numbers get bigger).

Ex.  1/5 x 2 = 2/10

When you divide you are decreasing the number and increasing size of the pieces.
(When you divide the numbers get smaller).

Ex. 3/12 divided by 3 = 1/4

6

Practice

Find equivalent fractions for the following (solve in your notebook):
2/5

7/8

5/10

3/12

1/7
