Entre los sigos y antes de Cristo , dos ciudades , las dos potencias del Mediterráneo , Roma y Cartago , se enfrentaron en un combate que solo podía terminar con la destrucción de una de ellas .
Los escritores de la antigüedad nos han legado los nombres de grandes generales ( Aníbal , Escipión el , Asdrúbal . . ) , de las batallas más importantes ( , la conquista de Gades o , Zama , Sagunto . . . ) y de grandes gestas ( como cuando atraviesa los Alpes en pleno invierno , sorprendiendo al ejército romano . . ) .
Después de guerras Roma sale triunfante . . . y el Occidental , y sus recursos y territorios , quedan para ella .
