Grab has partnered with Nakorn Lanna Cooperative to launch GrabTukTuk Electric in Chiang Mai .

The new feature for the Grab will allow passengers to book an electric tuk - tuk in addition to the features of Grab RodDaeng for hiring a songthaew truck and JustGrab for booking either a car or .

" The service is the first in Southeast , " said Grab Thailand Country Head Tarin Thaniyavarn , adding that the service would drive the adoption of transportation options in Thailand .

The tuk - tuk service is operated by Nakorn Lanna Cooperative . The received permission from the Department of Land Transportation in 2017 to provide electric tuk - tuks to in Chiang Mai .

The company expects to replace tuk - tuks with 450 electric tuk - tuks within this year . The effort will help reduce air and noise levels .
