Quan escoltem ho fem amb diferents volums . Els músics cal que toquin amb més o menys segons que volen transmetre . Per això a la cal que tinguin anotat d'una manera senzilla i entenedora tots aquells canvis d'intensitat necessaris .
Quan veiem una F sabem que hem de tocar . Quan trobem PP haurem de fer - ho . També , si veiem una MF cal que toquem amb una intensitat .
També hi ha símbols que serveixen per pujar o baixar la intensitat . Aquest són el . i el Dim . El primer Crescendo ens diu que hem de créixer cap a fort i el segon indica i hem de baixar el volum del so mica en mi a
