Com ha dit Jaime, la distància entre elles. Nosaltres utilitzem normalment set (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Si) però amb les alteracions en podem crear fins a 12 sons diferents que es repeteixen.

L'altre dia vam explicar que són MI-FA i SI-DO les úniques parelles de notes separades per un semitó. Totes les altres notes estan separades per 2 semitons = un to.
