Did you know that they are the prisms?

Prism is polyhedra with characteristics such as:

The bases, which are two parallel faces and which in turn are equal polygons.

The side faces, which are parallelograms and will have as many faces as the sides have their base.

We can sort them according to the number of sides of their base:

3 sides, it is triangular.

4-sided, it is quadrangular.

5-sided, it is pentagonal.

AND so on according to the side number will be sorted.

In a prism we can also see the height and this is the distance between its bases so it will coincide with the lateral edges of the prism and is called the straight prism, if it does not coincide then it is oblique.

If a prism is straight then its side faces will be rectangles.

There are two kinds of prisms, the convex and the concaves, the first is whether their bases are convex and the other if their bases are concave.

In the regular prisms we can see that the bases reference the radius of the circumscribed circumference and also the apotheme of the respective base can be detailed.

Calculate the area and volume of a prism

Calculate the area at the base of a prism we must applyP_B= perimeter of the base

The lateral area is calculated as follows:

 A_L=p_B⋅h

To calculate the total area of the prism we must add the area of the two bases plus the area of the lateral sides like this:

A_t=A_l+2⋅A_B

The volume of a prism is obtained from the multiplication of the base area by the height of the prism, in the straight prisms the height is in accordance with the lateral latures, but in an oblique one is not.

Base: This is the geometric figure or polygon that forms at the junction of the endpoints at the bottom of the pyramid

Height: Is the distance between the base of the pyramid to the top vertex or point of the pyramid

Side face: Each side of the pyramid forming a triangle, or also the angular triangle

Apotema: the apotheme is the height of the side faces of the pyramid.

Pyramid classification

The regular pyramid is the one that its base is a regular polygon and its side faces form an isosceles triangle.

The irregular pyramid is one that is based on an irregular polygon.

The Convex Pyramid is one whose base is a convex polygon

The Concave Pyramid is one whose base is a concave polygo

The Straight Pyramid is one whose side sides form isosceles triangles and the center point of the pyramid falls to the midpoint of the base

The oblique pyramid is one in which not all of its side faces form an isosceles triangle and the line that joins the cusp and the center of the base falls inclined towards the base.

Pyramid trunk it is the geometric body that forms a polyhedro with two parallel faces that are the bases and have the same number of sides as well as their number of sides.
