by Jorge Camilo Bohórquez
1

USE

We use the Comparative Form of adjectives or adverbs when we compare two people, animals, things or situations.

2

USE

We use the Superlatives Form of adjectives when we compare one person, animal, thing or situation with several of the same kind.

3

FORMATION

The comparatives and superlatives of one-syllable adjectives and adverbs are formed by adding the endings  (-er) and (-est)

Example: Cold - colder - coldest

4

FORMATION

The comparatives and superlatives of adjectives and adverbs with three or more syllables are formed with more/most + adjective/adverb.

Examples:

Interesting - more interesting -  the most interesting

5

FORMATION

One-syllable adjectives ending in one vowel +one consonant  double  the  consonant before  the           (-er)/(est)

Example: Hot - hotter - hottest

6

FORMATION

Adjectives ending in a consonant + (-y) drop the (y) and take (-ier)/(-iest)

Example: Happy - happier - happiest
