La société coloniale sénégalaise est inégalitaire à l'image de la dualité de la ville de Rufisque: d'un côté les colons qui profitent des richesses du pays par l'exploitation agricole et commerciale de la culture de l'arachide, de l'autre les indigènes qui subissent la domination économique et politique de la France.
