Los pronombres personales en inglés son también conocidos como pronombres personales sujetos o nominales. Son aquellos que refieren a las personas gramaticales. Son: I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they.

Los pronombres en inglés

En inglés, como en español, están los llamados pronombres. En español, conocemos los pronombres singulares ‘yo’, ‘tú’, ‘él’ y ‘ella’. En el plural, están ‘nosotros’, ‘vosotros’ y ‘ellos/ellas’. 

Los pronombres siempre reemplazan un sustantivo, p.ej. pueden representar tanto a una persona, un animal o una cosa u objeto. En inglés, hay pronombres también para el singular y el plural, que son listados en la siguiente tabla:

De este modo, puedes decirle en general ‘you’ a todos, sin importar si conoces bien a la persona o no. El pronombre ingles ‘it’ no puede ser traducido directamente al español. Se puede explicar su uso diciendo que ‘he’ y ‘she’ se usan solamente para representar personas, mientras que ‘it’ se usa para cosas y objetos Nota también que el pronombre ‘I’ (yo) está siempre en mayúscula, sin excepciones. Ahora que conocemos los pronombres, podemos tener una mirada más cercana de las formas del verbo más importante, ‘to be’ (ser/estar). Ya habrás utilizado bastante seguido en la primera lección la palabra ‘is’ (es), y probablemente has también estudiado las dos formas ‘I am’ (yo soy/estoy) y ‘you are’ (tú eres/estás) en la sección de vocabulario.
