It was indeed the Arab who first discovered and named our islands.

Long ago Indonesia was known as The East Indies.

The Dodo is the national bird of Mauritius. It was found only in our island. However they were eaten by the sailors and is now extinct.

The Mascarene islands comprises of 3 small islands that are Mauritius, Reunion and Rodrigues.

Our island was covered with thick forests, when it was first discovered.

Long ago, the Europeans were travelling at sea for trade of spices.

European sailors were looking for spices like: cloves cinnamon, cardamon, peppers, ginger , nutmeg....

The Solitaire is the National bird of Rodrigues. It is now extinct.
