📌 Definición:

El número de masa (A) es la suma de protones y neutrones en el núcleo de un átomo.

🔹 Características:

  • No aparece en la tabla periódica directamente.
  • Varía en los isótopos de un mismo elemento.

Ejemplo:

El carbono-12 tiene 6 protones y 6 neutrones, por lo que A = 12.

💡 Fórmula:

Número de masa (A) = Protones (Z) + Neutrones (N)

En la tabla periódica:

  • El número atómico (Z) se encuentra en la parte superior del símbolo del elemento.
  • Para hallar A, se redondea el peso atómico al número entero más cercano.
  • Ejemplo:

El magnesio (Mg) tiene Z = 12 y un A aproximado de 24.
