The Present Perfect is used to talk about actions that happened in the past but have a connection to the present.


Structure:

[have / has] + [past participle]

Subject Auxiliary Verb Example

I / you / we / they have I have eaten breakfast.


he / she / it has She has gone to school.

When do we use it?

When we don’t say exactly when the action happened:

  • ✅ I have seen that movie. (We don’t say when)

When the action happened recently:

  • ✅ She has just arrived. (She arrived a moment ago)

When the action has a result now:

  • ✅ They have lost the keys. (They don’t have them now)

Common words with Present Perfect:

  • ever, never, just, already, yet, since, for
