Introduction to Pink Shirt Day

Did you know that the last Wednesday of February is Pink Shirt Day? It's also known as Anti-Bullying Day. This special day encourages people to wear pink shirts to show their support against bullying.

2

The Origin of Pink Shirt Day

The story of Pink Shirt Day began in Nova Scotia in 2007. A student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, prompting two grade 12 students, David Shepard and Travis Price, to take action.

3

Taking Action

Shepard and Price decided to buy a large number of pink shirts and distribute them to their classmates. The very next day, students wore these shirts to school, showing solidarity with the bullied student.

4

The Sea of Pink

By the end of that week, almost every student at the school was wearing a pink shirt, creating what was called the Sea of Pink. This movement quickly gained traction across Canada.

5

Global Spread

Pink Shirt Day has since spread to hundreds of countries around the world, promoting awareness and action against bullying.

6

How to Participate

You can be part of Pink Shirt Day by:

  • Wearing a pink shirt to school to show your support.
  • Speaking up if you see someone being bullied.
  • Talking to a trusted adult about bullying situations.
7

The Importance of Speaking Up

When you speak up against bullying, you show the person being bullied that they are not alone. It is crucial to create a supportive environment.

8

No One Deserves to be Bullied

No matter who they are or where they come from, no one deserves to be bullied. We must work together to lift each other up.

9

Join the Movement

By participating in Pink Shirt Day, you contribute to a global movement that stands against bullying. Together, we can make a difference!

10

Conclusion

Let's continue to spread awareness and support for those affected by bullying. Remember, kindness and support can change lives!
