¿Qué es la corteza cerebral?

La corteza cerebral es la capa externa del cerebro, responsable de funciones complejas como el pensamiento, la percepción y el control de movimientos voluntarios.

Ubicación de la corteza cerebral

Se encuentra en la parte superior del cerebro y cubre los hemisferios cerebrales, formando una capa delgada pero muy importante para las funciones cerebrales.

Estructura de la corteza cerebral

Está formada por materia gris, que contiene los cuerpos celulares de las neuronas, y materia blanca, que conecta diferentes áreas de la corteza y otras partes del cerebro.

La corteza cerebral participa en funciones como:

  • Percepción sensorial
  • Control motor
  • Lenguaje
  • Razonamiento
  • Memoria

Lóbulos de la corteza cerebral

La corteza se divide en lóbulos: frontal, parietal, occipital y temporal, cada uno con funciones específicas.

Es responsable del pensamiento, planificación, movimiento voluntario y juicio.

Participa en procesar sensaciones táctiles, temperatura y dolor.
