Se trata del escalón más bajo de la estructura piramidal y hace referencia a las necesidades básicas del ser humano: comer, beber, dormir, etc.

Una vez que nuestras necesidades fisiológicas están satisfechas, buscamos estabilidad física, financiera o emocional. En este nivel, las personas buscan crear un ambiente estable, pacífico y predecible en sus vidas.

Con las necesidades básicas y de seguridad cubiertas, en el siguiente nivel las personas buscarían conexiones sociales y afectivas. Esto incluye amistades, relaciones familiares y amorosas.

Este nivel se refiere a la necesidad de autoestima y validación por parte de los demás. Las personas quieren sentirse respetadas, y esto a menudo se manifiesta en la búsqueda de éxito y en la obtención de logros.
