Matter exists as solid, liquid, or gas. Energy input or removal drives transitions between these states. States of matter

Evaporation is when a liquid becomes a gas at the surface. Heat provides energy for molecules to escape. Evaporation

Condensation occurs when gas cools and changes into a liquid. It forms clouds and dew on surfaces. Condensation

Freezing

Freezing is the transition from liquid to solid as temperature drops. Molecules lock into a rigid structure. Freezing

Melting happens when a solid gains enough energy to become a liquid. Temperature remains constant during melting. Melting

Vaporization includes evaporation and boiling. Heat causes liquids to fully become gaseous. Vaporization
