La Revolución de Mayo fue un movimiento ocurrido en Buenos Aires en mayo de 1810, cuando los criollos lograron destituir al virrey Cisneros y formar la Primera Junta de Gobierno. Estuvo motivada por la crisis en España tras la invasión napoleónica y significó el inicio del camino hacia la independencia de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata.
