Procedure Paragraph is a process paragraph explains how to do something, create something, or how something works through a series of chronological steps. It typically includes a topic sentence that introduces the process, supporting sentences detailing each step in order, and a concluding sentence. Key features include using clear transition words (like "first," "next," "finally"), giving specific instructions, and using imperative verbs.

The main purpose of a procedure text is to provide clear, step-by-step instructions on how to complete a task, make something, or use something. While procedural text focuses on how to do something, cause and effect is a separate text type that explains why things happen. Procedures use a sequence of actions to achieve a result, whereas cause and effect explains the connection between events.

Decide whether to explain the causes or the effects of a specific event, and choose a clear topic to focus on.


2. Write a clear topic sentence


3. For causes: Introduce the event and state that you will discuss the reasons it happened (e.g., "My father became seriously ill two years ago for several reasons").


4. For effects: Introduce the event and state that you will discuss its results (e.g., "My father's serious illness two years ago has led to many changes in our family").


5. Provide supporting details:

Explain the topic sentence by providing specific details for each cause or effect.


6. If explaining causes, describe each one with supporting evidence or examples.


7. If explaining effects, describe each result with supporting evidence or examples.


8. Connect ideas with transitions:

Use transitional words and phrases to show the logical connection between sentences.


9. For causes: "because," "since," "due to".


10. For effects: "consequently," "therefore," "as a result".


11. For sequencing: "first," "second," "next," "last".


12. Conclude the paragraph:

End with a concluding sentence that summarizes the main point or reinforces the connection between the cause and effect.
