Introduction to 3D Shapes

Welcome to 3D shapes. See common objects: Cube Cube, Sphere Sphere, Cone Cone, Cylinder Cylinder. Each has depth and volume.

Cube: Visualizing a 3D Shape

A cube has 6 equal square faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices. All angles are right angles, giving perfect symmetry.

Sphere: Visualizing a 3D Shape

A sphere has no faces, edges, or vertices. Every point on its surface is the same distance from the center.

Cone: Visualizing a 3D Shape

A cone has a circular base, one curved surface, 0 or more edges, and 1 vertex at the tip.

Cylinder: Visualizing a 3D Shape

A cylinder has two parallel circular faces, one curved surface, and 0 vertices. It has 2 edges where the faces meet.

Key Properties: Faces

Faces are the flat surfaces of a 3D shape. Cubes have 6 faces; spheres have none; cones and cylinders have 1 and 2 circular faces.

Edges are the line where two faces meet. A cube has 12 edges, a cone has 1 circular edge, and a cylinder has 2 circular edges.
