The Generation Gap

  • Many teenagers sometimes feel the need to escape from their parents’ control. They think that adults judge them too strictly and don’t understand their problems. This often leads to rebellious behaviour — teens may reject advice, resent rules, or simply refuse to obey them.
  • Parents, on the other hand, worry about their children’s safety. They believe that following rules prevents serious trouble. However, when the generation gap grows too wide, both sides can run out of patience.

Sometimes conflicts may become so serious that one side feels emotionally assaulted, even though no one means real harm. It’s important to talk and listen — otherwise, people might make mistakes that can’t be fixed. Of course, nobody wants to be jailed by rules or by anger. The best families find balance, where love and understanding win over judgement.
