Figurative language uses expressive comparisons and sounds to create vivid images, beyond the literal meaning of words. It enriches writing and speech.

Metaphor directly states that something is something else, revealing a hidden similarity without using like or as.

Simile compares two things using like or as, highlighting a shared trait in a vivid way.

Personification gives human traits to non-human things, making objects or ideas feel alive and relatable.

Alliteration repeats initial consonant sounds in neighboring words, creating rhythm and emphasis.
