Olmecas

Olmecas:

La primera gran civilización mesoamericana (circa 1500-400 a. C.) en la Costa del Golfo, conocida por cabezas colosales y arte jaguar.

Mayas

Mayas:

Floreció en Yucatán y Centroamérica (2000 a. C.–c. 900 d. C.). Destacaron en astronomía, escritura jeroglífica mixta y grandes ciudades-estado. Una de sus principales ciudades fue Tikal.

Teotihuacán

Teotihuacán:

Ciudad-estado influyente (siglos I- VII d. C.) con Pirámide del Sol y de la Luna; cultura diversa y comercio extendido.

Zapotecas

Zapotecas:

Se establecieron en el Valle de Oaxaca; desarrollo calendarizado, escritura y códices; Monte Albán fue su centro ceremonial y político destacado. Su lengua era el zapoteco.

Se establecieron en Oaxaca; artesanía en textiles y metalurgia; códices pintados revelan genealogías y historias míticas.

Influencia cultural temprana; Tula fue su centro; mitos de Quetzalcóatl y artesanía de piedra trabajada.

Aztecas:

Habitaron el Valle de México; imperio dominante (siglo XIV–1521); Triple Alianza, chinampas y rituales religiosos. Su capital fue Tenochtitlan. Su principal cultivo fue el maíz.

Adoraban el Dios Huitzilopochtli, Dios de la Guerra.

Purépecha (Tarasco):

Habitaron el occidente de México; rival de los mexicas; dominio del centro-Occidente y cerámica distintiva.

Huasteca

Huasteca:

Cultura del Golfo de México; vestigios en música, cerámica y templos; expansión sur-norte destacó en México antiguo.

Totonacas

Totonaca:

Veracruz; Cerro de las Mesas; famosos relieves y el Templo de la Escalera; influencia en códices y comercio.
