What’s the best thing about working at FMG?

There were 116 comments provided for this question and the following themes were highlighted

  1. Amazing people and team
  2. Work-life balance - flexibility
  3. Ability to speak openly with management
  4. Managing own workload

This is really good and i am so happy that you are enjoying our approach, we will strive to continue ensuring these themes are still the best things about working at FMG in the coming year.

Other than pay what would make the biggest impact in FMG becoming an even better place to work?

We had 88 comments on for this question, with the following themes being highlighted

  1. Communication has improved, but still needs more – between departments needs improvement.
  2. Better staff recognition and more positive feedback.
  3. Ice and ingenium are slow and don’t work great all the time.
  4. More engagement.
  5. Talk about bonuses not being taxed and the state of the building.

I will review our current inter departmental communications to see where we can make improvements, we have already started this process with the Engineering department and hopefully should be able to provide more information on that soon. Amber Sinclair will be taking the lead on this.

From the discussions i have had with a lot you over the past year, i recognise that we still have a way to go in terms of positive feedback rather than constructive. Nicol Keeton will be reviewing how we can improve this, as well as looking at what we can do in terms of better staff recognition and engagement.

I completely agree with the ICE and Ingenium comments, and where these issues are a bit out of our control, we do have the new telephony system coming out at the start of February, with Training to take place from the 12th January onwards, so hopefully with the new system we will have a much more stable telephony system. Michael Starkey will be taking the lead on the implementation of the new Telephony system into DTM, with Nicol Keeton leading the Training.

In terms of Ingenium the work continues with the platform modernisation programme, which will improve the stability of the system, and i will look to get a more fuller update on progress of this programme so that you are provided more information on Ingenium's development.

How could we improve our long-service recognition? Which milestones? What rewards?

We received 79 comments for this question with the main responses as follows

  1. Milestones to be celebrated every 5 years, with monetary rewards and vouchers.
  2. More annual leave to be given at every milestone.
  3. Early finish suggested for every year of service at FMG.

There was also some comments about having more visibility of those who have achieved long service milestones.

I am extremely proud of my own personal long service and agree that we can do more to highlight when our colleagues have reached specific milestones.

All the comments made for this question are going to be reviewed by the FMG People Experience Committee. Nicol Keeton is our representative on this committee, and we will aim to get a fuller response out on this, once it has been discussed.

Do you feel part of the wider Zigup Group?

We had 94 comments on this question with about 40 responses saying that they did feel part of the wider Zigup Group and the remaining saying that they didn't.

It can be quite hard at times to focus on the part we play in the wider Zigup Group due to the day to day requirements of our work, and i recognise that this isn't something that to date we have focused on in DTM.

On Wednesday 3rd December there was an Internal Communication from Harvey Stead outlining the future strategic direction of Zigup in the UK&I operating model. It explained the direction we are going to be taking over the next few years to strengthen our position with two distinct operating companies in the UK&I.

To help with an overall understanding of where we fit into the wider Zigup Group we will pull together a concise overview of Zigup and put it onto the Microlearning Application so that you can review.

We’re always interested in hearing your feedback, is there anything else you’d like to share?

We received 40 comments on this question with the majority being extremely positive about your teams, team leaders and managers. It is great to hear that you are having a positive experience in DTM and it is something that we will strive to continue to deliver for you.

There were also a few opportunities for improvement raised.

  1. Clearer Views on Career Path opportunities
  2. More inclusivity of Homeworkers in engagement events

These are two clear opportunities for improvement that i believe we can action through the microlearning application and we will look to utilise this product more to give a clearer overview of your career path opportunities and provide a more interactive engagement experience for those of you that are permanent homeworkers.
