Introduction: What are ch words?

Welcome to the Ch-astic Reading Machine! Today we practice words that begin with ch and sound like ch in chair, cheese, and chin. Ready to read aloud?

Slide 1: chair and cheese

Listen and read: chair is something you sit on, and cheese tastes delicious on crackers. Say each word slowly and clap when you hear ch.

Slide 2: chimney and cheap

Read along: chimney keeps a fireplace warm, and cheap means it costs little money. Practice the sounds: /ch/ as in chair.

Slide 3: chalk and chat

Grab chalk to write on the board. A lively chat is a friendly conversation. Point to each letter and blend the sounds smoothly.

Two tasty words: cherry is a red fruit, and chicken is a farm animal. Repeat slowly: ch + erry and ch + icken.
