A fun, reading-focused game for ch words

Introduction: What are ch words?

Welcome to the Ch-astic Reading Machine! Today we practice words that begin with ch and sound like ch in chair, cheese, and chin. Ready to read aloud?

2

Slide 1: chair and cheese

Listen and read: chair is something you sit on, and cheese tastes delicious on crackers. Say each word slowly and clap when you hear ch.

3

Slide 2: chimney and cheap

Read along: chimney keeps a fireplace warm, and cheap means it costs little money. Practice the sounds: /ch/ as in chair.

4

Slide 3: chalk and chat

Grab chalk to write on the board. A lively chat is a friendly conversation. Point to each letter and blend the sounds smoothly.

5

Slide 4: cherry and chicken

Two tasty words: cherry is a red fruit, and chicken is a farm animal. Repeat slowly: ch + erry and ch + icken.

6

Slide 5: chapter and choice

Today we read about a new chapter in a book. Make a choice to read the next sentence. Focus on the /ch/ sound.

7

Slide 6: chocolate and cheque

Delicious chocolate can melt in your mouth. A cheque is a paper note used to pay. Practice the two words aloud.

8

Slide 7: coach and chain

A good coach helps you learn sport and skills. A chain links pieces together. Blend the ch sound with each ending.

9

Slide 8: chin and chimney

Touch your chin gently with a smile. A tall chimney sits on a roof. Read both words slowly, then faster as you gain confidence.

10

Slide 9: church and chip

A quiet church is a place to learn and help others. A chip is a small piece of something tasty or a computer fragment. Practice the initial ch sound.

11

Slide 10: quick recap

Great job! Remember: ch words often use the /ch/ sound like in chair. Read each word aloud, blend smoothly, and have fun!
