Nationalities

🔹 Regla CLAVE en inglés


Las nacionalidades en inglés:


✅ Siempre van en mayúscula

✅ No cambian por género ni por número

✅ Funcionan como adjetivos


💡 En inglés no existe:


español / española

españoles / españolas


Todo es simplemente:


Spanish


📍 Ejemplos claros


I am Spanish.

She is Italian.

They are Japanese.

He is American.


❌ Incorrecto:


She is a Spanisha

They are Spanishes



❓ Preguntar nacionalidad


La estructura es siempre con TO BE:


🔹 Singular


What nationality is she?


She’s Irish.


🔹 Plural


What nationality are they?


They’re Japanese.

Nationalities

🔹 “Funcionan como adjetivos”


Cuando decimos que las nacionalidades en inglés funcionan como adjetivos, significa que:


👉 Describen a la persona

👉 Van después del verbo to be

👉 No son sustantivos (no son “cosas”)


🧠 Comparación rápida con español


Español (sí cambia):

  • Él es español
  • Ella es española
  • Ellos son españoles


Inglés (NO cambia):


  • He is Spanish
  • She is Spanish
  • They are Spanish


📌 Spanish describe a la persona → por eso es adjetivo


✅ Ejemplo práctico paso a paso


1️⃣ La base (verbo to be)

She is …

2️⃣ Agregamos el adjetivo (nacionalidad)


She is Irish.

🟢 Irish responde a la pregunta:


¿Cómo es ella? → Irlandesa

❌ Errores comunes (muy importante)


❌ She is an Irish

❌ He is a Spanish


👉 Incorrecto porque los adjetivos NO llevan artículo


✅ Uso correcto

✔️ He’s American.

✔️ They’re Japanese.

INTRODUCING PEOPLE

Aquí aparece una de las estructuras más importantes del inglés básico.


🔶 Para presentar a alguien


Usamos THIS IS (no he is, no she is al inicio).


This is Phillip.

This is Nancy.


💡 Truco mental:


“This is” = “Esta persona es…”.


⚠ Pronunciación importante


Cuando dices this is, el sonido se une: this is → /ˈdɪsɪs/ → “disis”

Esto ayuda mucho a sonar más natural.


🏷️ Para confirmar quién es usamos IT, no he / she:


Is this Natasha Zarakovich?


No, it isn’t.

It’s Nancy Johnson.


📌 En inglés:


❌ Who is she? (si aún no sabes quién es)


✅ Who is it?


☎️ Nota real de la vida diaria


Por teléfono, lo normal es decir:
