2

2. Respiratory System

Function: exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide; regulates pH; airways, lungs, and muscles coordinate breathing to meet metabolic demands.

3

3. Digestive System

Role: breaks down food, absorbs nutrients, and eliminates undigested waste; organs include mouth, stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas.

4

4. Nervous System

Function: controls thought, movement, and sensation; processes information through the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, enabling rapid responses.

5

5. Skeletal System

Role: provides structure, protection, and leverage; stores minerals and houses bone marrow for blood cell production.

6

6. Muscular System

Function: enables movement, posture, and heat generation; skeletal muscles contract in coordination with nerves and bones.

7

7. Endocrine System

Role: regulates body functions via hormones; glands like thyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands coordinate growth, metabolism, and reproduction.

8

8. Integumentary System

Function: protects the body, regulates temperature, and senses touch; includes skin, hair, nails, and associated glands.

9

9. Urinary System

Role: removes waste, balances fluids and electrolytes; kidneys filter blood, while the bladder stores and eliminates urine.

10

10. Immune/Lymphatic System

Function: defends against pathogens; lymph nodes, vessels, and immune cells coordinate responses to protect the body.
