Representaciones Cartográficas

Una representación cartográfica es la reproducción en un plano de la superficie terrestre, manteniendo referencias espaciales y las relaciones entre lugares clave.

Proyecciones cartográficas

Las proyecciones transforman la esfericidad de la Tierra en un plano. Cada una distorsiona forma, tamaño, distancia o dirección de manera distinta.

Escala de mapas

La escala indica cuánto se reduce la realidad. Puede ser numérica (1:50.000) o gráfico, y guía la resolución y nivel de detalle.

Sistemas de coordenadas

Los sistemas de coordenadas asignan ubicaciones con latitud, longitud y, a veces, altitud, facilitando la geolocalización y la medición.

Elementos cartográficos

Los mapas combinan puntos, líneas, áreas y símbolos para representar ciudades, ríos, límites y usos del suelo.

Simbología y leyenda

La simbología usa signos, colores y grosores para comunicar información. La leyenda interpreta estos signos de forma clara.

Tipos de proyecciones

Entre las más comunes están conformes, equivalentes y semitareas, cada una con diferentes pérdidas de forma o área.
