Imagina una superficie plana sobre la que actúa una fuerza. Si mantener la presión constante y aumentar el área, ¿qué ocurre con la fuerza total? Y si, por el contrario, duplicas la presión manteniendo el área igual, ¿qué pasa con la fuerza? ¿Qué ecuación resume la relación entre estas magnitudes para una superficie dada en un sólido o fluido?

La relación fundamental que une estas dos magnitudes para una superficie es la multiplicación entre presión y área, es decir F = P × A.

Si la presión es constante y duplicas el área, la fuerza total debe duplicarse.

Piensa en la cantidad de empuje por unidad de área y cómo se acumula al extender la superficie.
